OPEN POSITION: LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary practice. As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality medical care to our animal patients. You will work closely with our team of veterinarians and other veterinary professionals to ensure the well-being and health of our animal patients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with animals, excellent technical skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional veterinary care.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting veterinarians in providing comprehensive medical care for animals, including conducting physical examinations, collecting and analyzing laboratory samples, and administering medications and treatments.
  • Performing and monitoring anesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of the animal patient.
  • Assisting in diagnostic procedures such as radiography, ultrasound, and laboratory testing.
  • Providing compassionate care to animals by monitoring their vital signs, providing post-operative care, and administering appropriate pain management.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records for all patients, including treatment plans, medications, and other relevant information.
  • Educating and providing guidance to pet owners on animal health, preventive care, and treatment options.
  • Assisting with the management of veterinary equipment and supplies, ensuring they are properly maintained and stocked.
  • Collaborating with the veterinary team to develop and implement protocols and procedures to enhance the efficiency and quality of patient care.
  • Assisting in the training and supervision of veterinary assistants and other support staff.
  • Staying up-to-date with current veterinary practices and advancements in the field by attending continuing education programs and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid license as a Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT, or equivalent) in accordance with local regulations.
  • Associate's degree or higher in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program.
  • Previous experience working as a Licensed Veterinary Technician is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in conducting physical examinations, administering medications, and performing diagnostic procedures.
  • Excellent technical skills, including the ability to safely handle and restrain animals.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach towards animals and their owners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with pet owners, veterinarians, and other team members.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional veterinary care and continuous learning.

Working Conditions

The Licensed Veterinary Technician will primarily work in a veterinary clinic or hospital environment. The role may involve exposure to animal allergens, bites, scratches, or other occupational hazards. The work may also require standing for extended periods, lifting heavy animals, and occasionally working evenings, weekends, or holidays to provide emergency care or support.
